One contractor, start to finish
Your estimate, your build and your punch list are handled by the same crew. No lead broker in the middle, no subcontracted handoffs you never agreed to.

About
Jacksonville Dock Builder is a marine construction and outdoor living contractor working across Northeast Florida. Docks, lifts, floating platforms and the decks that connect them to the house.
What we do
We build the structures that make waterfront property worth owning — and we build them for the conditions in Northeast Florida rather than for a catalogue.
Tidal swing here runs from a couple of feet on the upper river to around six at the Nassau County end. Salinity shifts with season and rainfall, which decides whether marine borers are a constant threat or an occasional one. Afternoon storms, hurricane season, oyster beds, soft silt bottoms, wake from the Intracoastal, miles of open-water wind fetch on the wide reaches of the St. Johns — every one of those is a design input.
That is the whole argument for using a contractor who works here rather than one who works anywhere. A dock is not a complicated structure. It is a structure that has to survive a very specific set of conditions, and the difference between one that lasts twenty-five years and one that is tired in eight is almost entirely in decisions made before anything is built.
Every enquiry through this site goes to one marine contractor — the one who would actually build the project. Nothing is sold on, shared with a lead network or distributed to a panel of bidders. If you send us photographs of your shoreline, the person who reads them is the person who would stand on it.
That is a deliberate choice and it has a practical consequence: we turn work down. If a project is outside what we do well, or the access makes it impractical, or the honest answer is that your existing structure does not need replacing yet, we will say so rather than quote.
We hold Florida Certified General Contractor #1533461, issued by the Florida Department of Business & Professional Regulation. You can look that number up yourself in about thirty seconds, and you should — on us and on anyone else you are considering.
A certified general contractor licence is a meaningful filter on waterfront work. It is also the thing most often implied rather than stated, which is why ours is in the footer of every page on this site rather than buried here. Ask for proof of insurance and references too; we will provide both.
Beyond that licence, you will not find invented project counts, borrowed testimonials or award badges anywhere on this site. The photographs in ourgallery are a reference library of configurations and materials, clearly labelled as such — not a portfolio presented as our own work.
How we work
A low-tide sounding on your own frontage, not an estimate from the bank or a number borrowed from the neighbour’s dock. Length drives the budget, so guessing at it serves nobody.
Preservative retention, hardware grade and detailing all change between the salt at Fernandina, the brackish middle river and the fresh water at Palatka. One specification for all three is either wasteful or inadequate.
If a structure has years left, we will tell you. If a repair is money spent propping up something near its end, we will tell you that too, in writing, before you commit.
A lift, a roof, power at the end of the dock. Framing for it during construction costs a fraction of adding it afterwards, and it takes one conversation to establish.
Why us
Your estimate, your build and your punch list are handled by the same crew. No lead broker in the middle, no subcontracted handoffs you never agreed to.
Tidal swing, brackish water, oyster beds and hurricane season all shape how a structure should be framed, fastened and set. We design around the conditions on your shoreline, not a catalogue drawing.
Waterfront work in Florida touches local building departments, the FDEP, the Water Management District and often the Army Corps. We prepare and track the submittals that your project requires.
A dock, the walkway to it, the deck it connects to and the lift on the end are one project. Building them together keeps elevations, materials and detailing consistent.
Start your project
Send us the basics and we will come back with a clear scope, realistic timing and an honest assessment of what your shoreline can support.
Every enquiry goes straight to the contractor who would build the project — not to a lead-sharing network.
